Joan is a fully qualified and experienced Hypnotherapy practitioner offering a range of Hypnosis based solutions for a wide range of problems and difficulties and is based in Wombourne Wolverhampton.

What Is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the treatment (or therapy) of psychological problems using a combination of Hypnosis with various therapy techniques.
For example, Hypnotherapy is often combined with ‘positive suggestions’ and is known as ‘Suggestion Hypnotherapy’ which is very useful for the more ‘minor’ problems such as the Fear of Flying or Nail Biting.
Hypnotherapy is also widely regarded as the most effective way to stop smoking and Joan’s quit smoking hypnosis session continues to be very popular.
When it comes to more deeply rooted or pervasive problems such as Self Confidence or Anxious Feelings you will often see Hypnosis combined with analytical therapy in the form of ‘Hypnoanalysis’ which is like an accelerated form of Psychoanalysis.
How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
Our minds are comprised of two distinct areas most frequently referred to as the ‘conscious’ and ‘unconscious’ mind. The unconscious mind looks after all of the automatic processes and behaviours, for example breathing, so that we don’t have to expend large amounts of time controlling these aspects of our day-to-day living.
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy allow the skilled practitioner to ‘negotiate’ directly with the unconscious part of the mind so that new and more ‘useful’ behaviours can be ‘programmed’ into the automatic part of the psyche, although this negotiation can often take a number of sessions to be fully ‘integrated’ into the persons ‘normal’ behaviour.
What’s Hypnotherapy Like?
Contrary to what you see on TV and in the popular media, nobody can be ‘made’ to do anything that they are not fully willing to do in their ‘normal’ lives – all of the people who you see participating in stage hypnosis and such like, are 100% willing participants.
The state of Hypnosis is very much like ‘day-dreaming’ or feeling ‘deeply relaxed’ and something that every one of us experiences frequently throughout every single day!
Whenever you ‘drift-off’ during a routine task you are invariably in this altered state of ‘higher awareness’.
In general, Hypnotherapy is very enjoyable, relaxing and can, for some people, be quite profound and enable ‘internal change’ to occur.
Hypnotherapy is a properly recognised therapeutic technique that continues to find favour across the entire healthcare spectrum with a growing number of GP’s and Dental practitioners learning how to use it within their practices.
Wolverhampton Hypnotherapy is also fully registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the government appointed regulator for complementary therapies.
